The sheltered inner harbour at Mooloolaba, tucked in behind the northern breakwater. Sand and mud holding, protected from every direction and within a short tender ride of The Wharf. Watch the moored fleet and channel — anchor room is tight on weekends.
The classic Noosa overnighter.
Anchor off Noosa Woods at the mouth of the river, in the lee of the sand spit. Sand holding, tidal current running through — set firmly and back down. A short tender to Hastings Street and the Woods beach. Watch the ferry lane and the swing on the tide change.
Quiet water up the Noosa River.
A protected reach of the Noosa River between Tewantin and the lakes. Mud holding, minimal fetch and one of the easier overnight stops on the river. Good staging point for a run up into Lake Cooroibah or the Everglades.
The passage's postcard anchorage.
The wide, shallow anchorage off Golden Beach at the northern end of the Pumicestone Passage. Sand holding, protected in the lee of Bribie and one of the great sunset stops on the Sunshine Coast. Watch the draft on the low — plenty of shallow patches.
Mangrove-lined and glassy on the right tide.
A run of quiet anchor spots up the Maroochy River past Chambers Island. Mud and sand holding, well off the main channel and out of the wash. A local favourite for a quiet overnighter with the crab pots down.

Anchor off the northern tip of Bribie Island, on the western side and out of the bar. Sand holding, clear water and the surf beach a short walk over the dunes. Settled-weather stop — the bar swell wraps in on anything with east in it.
